Twister

I wanted to let you all know that on my way home from PetCo today, I decided to let Stuart meet Twister. Since we live not so far from Royal Pet Resort, I figured Twister could have a good romp before going back to a week in the kennel.

Well, Twister was nicknamed "Cletis" in a matter of seconds (bless his heart, he just looked so hill-billy next to the others; especially next to Sir Robert Copper who is quite the regal beagle). Cletis-Twister had a grand time running in the field!  He is quite the hunter! He jumps and cuts through tall grass like it doesn't even phase him! He was beautiful to watch! Ends up, we took 3 walks today in the field, in between bathing Chudleigh, working on fixing Sawyer's bad barking habit, and running in to town for a bite to eat and get groceries.

Cletis played with Bauer, Robert Copper and Annie today. Not even Remington minded him, and typically Remmy will give a tooth and growl to anyone who he may feel threatens him. So, Cletis fits in surprisingly well. He has learned the dog door (that took 2 tries - he's a smart fellow) and ate his dinner in a crate like the others. He knows where the water is located, he had a nap for a couple of hours in the heat of the day (I know, nice to say that huh?!) in the pen under the deck where he would be undistrurbed on carpet with a potty if he needed one, and he took yet ANOTHER walk with us after dinner. He was tired so he followed behind me as I talked (we used to do that with Chloe and that is how she learned the path around the fence). Cletis did bump into a couple of the other dogs by accident and they didn't care one bit. They are so used to that with the bumper-puppies bouncing off them, that I think they just say after a while: "oh brother - why don't these dogs watch where they are going!"

I know Cletis is a tacky name, but when you see him next to Rocket, he makes Rocket look like a star! We will foster Cletis-Twister for the week and see how things go. This frees up billable space for Royal Pet during the spring break vacation week (which can only help).

I'll let you know if anything negative happens. So far ll is surprisingly great! I figured when I saw Twister-Cletis interact today that there was hope. He is good natured and does like socialness (and also Stuart's lap!) :-)
