The Leader
Our Pets: Remington

Remington was a small pup when he joined us on Sept. 30th, 1995. We found him advertised on the laundromat bulletin board, and agreed to pick him up the next day. He lived with his mother, Susan, and brother (who was also for sale and who bite him and beat him up the day we went to buy Remington) in a pen outside of a mobile home park. The ad read: "Two male beagles need good homes. 2 for $25, or 1 for $15." We chose the runt.
Remington went through much obedience training and suffered terribly from separatation anxiety. I alway knew, though, that he had leadership potentail and he was such a good dog. Well, he wasn't really good, but after a lot of work together he learned to "talk" with us and we grew to communicate very well. Then, the relationship blossomed.
Remington passed away of congestive heart failure on May 8, 2009. He had just had his 14th birthday. He gave me a good lick and we hugged and I am happy for him. I loved him so and still do. But seeing him suffer in terms of finding breathing so difficult was too much to bear.
You're the Best, Remmy! You always will be!
